January 2010 - Average household debt in the UK is £8, 939 (not including mortgages). The figure increases to £18, 263 if the average is based on the number of households who actually have some form of unsecured loan. Average household debt in the UK is £58, 040 (including mortgages).
Every day 126 properties were repossessed in 2009. In the last three months leading up to December 2009 1,841 people reported being made redundant every day. 1 person enters into an IVA or becomes insolvent approximately every 3 1/2 minutes. What is Hope Debt Advice?
Hope Debt Advice was formed some time ago under the auspices of Community Money Advice,a registered charity dedicated to assisting church and other community organisations in setting up debt advice centres in their local communtiy. The charity provides training and resources to local initiatives accross England and Wales, and has helped set up over 75 advice centres since it’s foundation in 2003. A team of 5 professionally trained and qualified advisors is now available in Malton, North Yorkshire (and elsewhere by arrangment) to help and/or advise anyone struggling with personal debt or for whom personal debt is a worrying issue. The service is provided absolutely free and entirely confidential to all persons regardless of religious beliefs, ethnic origin, sexual orientation or age.
What can Hope Debt Advice do for me?
We can assist you in ascertaining your level of debt, negotiating with creditiors on your own behalf, and advising you on the course of action we believe you should follow to free yourself from the burden of personal debt. We are also able to advise you, if necessary on how to set up and manage a personal financial budget.
When should I contact Hope Debt Advice?
Contact should be made as soon as possible; as soon as you are aware that your indebtedness is becoming, or is likely to become, out of control. However, we may be able to help if creditors are pressing hard and even if Judgement Debts are appearing.

Simply leave your name and a telephone contact number and one of our advisors will call you back as soon as possible. Appointments are normally made to take place in Malton, North Yorkshire, but under certain circumstances can be made for interviews to be held elsewhere, maybe in your own home.
